During your initial visit, Dr Opperman will do a comprehensive oral examination to assess your dental condition, discuss your treatment goals, and determine if orthodontic treatment is necessary. If treatment is indicated, orthodontic records, which includes radiographs, impressions and digital photographs, will be taken to assist with treatment planning.
Dr Opperman evaluates each case thoroughly and creates a personalised treatment plan for each patient, this usually takes one to two weeks.
Dr Opperman prefers to see all her patients 1 to 2 weeks after the initial consultation in person to discuss her findings and their personalised treatment plan. A cost estimate and the expected duration of treatment is also discussed at this visit.
The cost of orthodontic treatment varies between patients, due to different needs and expected treatment duration. It is not possible to give an accurate cost estimation without a consultation. Orthodontic fees can be claimed back from most medical aids and Dr Opperman and her team will guide you through the process.
Yes, payment plans can be arranged to assist with payment. Dr Opperman will discuss various payment options during the case discussion appointment.
On average, these treatments can last between twelve to twenty-four months. The duration depends on the patient’s individual case and treatment plan.
Follow-up appointments are scheduled every 4 to 8 weeks for most patients. Depending on a patient’s needs, Dr Opperman may require more frequents visits or a longer duration between visits.
The retention phase involves maintaining the corrected position of the teeth following orthodontic treatment. Different methods are used for retention and Dr Opperman will prescribe the most suitable retention protocol for each patient when treatment is completed and their braces are removed.
